Last year, LEGO® Icons launched the 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, officially kicking off the LEGO® Star Trek product line. Since then, speculation about a second Star Trek set has been building among fans.
Now, the rumored follow-up set is gradually beginning to take shape.
1,701 Pieces — A Nod to the Original Enterprise?
According to current rumors, the set will contain approximately 1,701 pieces.
Unlike the 10356 Enterprise-D, which focused on recreating the entire starship, LEGO® may now be turning its attention to one of the most iconic locations from Star Trek: The Original Series (TOS) — the bridge of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701.
For Star Trek fans, the piece count is unlikely to go unnoticed. NCC-1701 is, of course, the registry number of Captain James T. Kirk’s legendary Enterprise and one of the most recognizable numbers in science-fiction history.
While LEGO® has not confirmed whether the piece count is an intentional reference, it would certainly fit the design team's long-standing tradition of hiding clever Easter eggs within their sets.
The rumored retail price is expected to fall between $200 and $240 USD. Considering the piece count alone, that would place it above many display-oriented models of similar size. However, if the reported minifigure lineup proves accurate, a significant portion of the cost may be tied to the extensive character roster and licensing development.
Eight Classic Characters Could Appear Together for the First Time
Perhaps even more exciting than the build itself is the rumored minifigure lineup, which currently includes:
- James T. Kirk
- Spock
- Christine Chapel
- Hikaru Sulu
- Leonard McCoy
- Pavel Chekov
- Nyota Uhura
- Montgomery Scott

This roster represents nearly the entire core bridge crew from The Original Series.
For many Star Trek fans, these characters are every bit as iconic as Captain Picard, Commander Riker, and Data are to The Next Generation.
In particular, the legendary trio of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy has remained one of the most recognizable symbols of the Star Trek franchise for decades. If the rumors are accurate, this could mark the first time LEGO has systematically represented the main TOS crew in a single set.
Why the Bridge Makes Perfect Sense
From a product design perspective, the bridge is arguably the most logical next step.
The 10356 Enterprise-D adopted the large-scale display model approach, recreating the starship's exterior at a scale that did not allow for minifigure-compatible interiors. A bridge-focused set would naturally fill that gap.
Within Star Trek lore, the bridge is arguably just as important as the Enterprise itself. Countless iconic moments took place there: Kirk issuing commands, Spock delivering analysis, Sulu at the helm, and Uhura managing communications.
Rather than releasing another version of the Enterprise, a dedicated bridge set would allow LEGO to include a full crew lineup while faithfully recreating many of the show's most recognizable features, including:
- The captain’s chair
- Navigation and helm stations
- The main viewscreen
- The circular command center layout
From a display standpoint, this approach also offers stronger appeal for minifigure collectors.
Earlier Leaks May Have Already Hinted at a TOS Set
Rumors surrounding a TOS-themed set did not begin with the latest reports.
Several months ago, images of what appeared to be prototype LEGO Star Trek elements surfaced online. These included two printed Starfleet uniform torsos and a newly designed minifigure hairpiece featuring pointed Vulcan ears.

The red uniform corresponds to engineering and security personnel, while the blue uniform represents science and medical officers, matching the costume designs seen throughout The Original Series.
The Vulcan-inspired hairpiece immediately led many fans to speculate that Spock was on the way. In light of the latest bridge rumors, those leaked elements now seem even more significant.
Final Thoughts
If these rumors prove true, LEGO’s long-term strategy for Star Trek is becoming increasingly clear.
The Enterprise-D appealed primarily to collectors and display enthusiasts, while a TOS bridge set would return to the franchise’s roots and target a different generation of fans.
Of course, everything remains unconfirmed for now.
But for many Star Trek enthusiasts, a brick-built bridge packed with legendary crew members may ultimately be even more exciting than another starship model.
